Karen Casciani is an artist who enjoys photo- realism; she utilizes her photographic skills to capture an image, then brings it to life in a watercolor, pastel or acrylic painting. She is best known for her vibrant use of color, fine detail and dramatic backgrounds. Painting flowers has become her passion. A journalist once said about her work, 'the paintings look so real you can almost smell the flowers.' This Pittsburgh Pennsylvania native has been re-discovering her artistic talent since health issues forced her into early retirement.
